where you came from

I just discovered this book today via "somebodies" blog but I can't for the life of me remember where. Seems my brain is as swollen as my feet.

It looks adorable and a perfect gift for the kids when bub arrives, so I quickly hunted it down and orderd a copy. Hopefully it arrives before the bub does.

I did want to post a pic from the web but can't seem to figure out how. Anyone wanna gives me some clues, told you I was a techno-phobe.

Man it's hot today. Hot and windy....not nice at all. I've just printed up a parliament of owls. I love that a group of owls has such a cool name! Had to goggle it mind you...I was thinking it was a jury. I tried to find somewhere to take shots of the tee's to pop up in the shop but the house is all dark as I'm trying to keep it cool and outside is sooooo windy. So maybe tomorrow a parliament of owls will appear in the shop

oh and no pictures in the post! I know...couldn't figure out linking from the web could I.. Oh dear my poor swollen brain

and the winner is.......

drum roll please :D

Lesley from Cherub's Kiss, Tully has drawn your name from the hat. Sorry no random number generator here, i'm too much of a techno-phobe. I'll be in touch to get your details Lesley:D Go check out lesley's blogs here and here. She's an awesome, awesome nappy maker and smocker extraoridinaire and makes a very mean cupcake:D

A big thank you to everyone who entered and left such lovely comments. It's great to see who's reading:D More owl tee's will be available along with some new designs in the next few weeks. Little Clara has gone off to a new home but has one friend still waiting for some finishing touches.

beside the seaside.....

We're squeezing in as much as we can before the bubba arrives at the moment. Figuring it may be some time before we can go bushcamping again we set off for the long weekend down to a pretty little spot near Port Macdonald. We'd been told there was quite a bit of a drive off-road to get to the spot, no worries, we have a 4wd and are used to having to travel a bit off road. ummm not when I'm 37 weeks pregnant!!! By gosh I thought that baby was going to make an early arrival! All's good though and we're back home with everyone still in their right places...might have to give it another go in a few more weeks though.

Anyway it was a lovely spot. Great camp sites, nice calm sheltered beach, pity about the young hoons who decided to camp there as well and celebrate aus day with much hooning around sand dunes, playing very loud music and partying all night and most of the next day. Sheesh! ahhh the serenity of bush camping. This is just why we usually avoid camping over public holidays. Better remember it next time....

We did have a lovely time beside the sleeplessness. The weather was perfect. The kids had a bit of a fish on the jetty with Lach. Both got to wind in their first fish. Tully caught three different species, which is apparently very impressive.

She also spent a bit of time chasing Mr.Percival around and wondering where "Thunder boy" was.

Whilst the little rednut avoids the water and particularly seaweed as much as possible. Loves the beach, the waves and weed freak him out though.

So there's a bit of bushcamping crossed off the list for the moment. I wonder how old the little one need be before we go again. I keep thinking maybe easter but the thought of the crowds/hoons out camping sure doesn't inspire much of a want to get back into nature.

oh and watch out for Clara over the next day or so. She'll be up in the shop soon:)

scarlett

Little scarlett here will be going up in the shop this arvo. She's sweet and sports a bit of a different hair do, the classic bob.

Thought I'd also share a pic of Asher in his new owl tee. Tully loves it that Asher has a tee "like hers". I love this green on him:D Don't forget toleave a message below if you would like a similar one for your own little one.

And lastly, Tully's photo for the day. There has been about 50 of them (20 of the bathroom plug) but this one I especially love.

gocco a goer.......and a giveaway

Today I finally had a go at a gocco on a t-shirt. I've been meaning to do this for months but just kept putting it on the backburner. Talk about immediate gratification! I'm so stoked with how this turned out and how easy it was.

The image is a boobook owl that I painted on a tee for Tully for her 3rd birthday. The image is the sketch I made not the actual painting. I really like how the gocco still has the look of a sketch. Now I have sooooo many ideas for new sketches and tee's, so hopefully this will see the rekindling of my interest in doing tee's, as to be honset it has dropped off somewhat.

Now here's the giveaway bit... I've been meaning to do a giveaway since my 200th post, now 18 posts later here it finally is. If you like the little owl and would like to have one for the special little person in your life just leave me a message and let me kow why you like owls (cause I do) and what size tee and gender preference you would like. I only have size 0 to size 2 available and it will be up to me as to what colour I do use, got a limited supply you see. The tee's will be stripey bonds, so hopefully the image will look good on a stripey background. I'll leave this open until Tuesday morning so just leave a message here if your keen.

Now onto the baby stuff for today. Saw my midwife and bub is behaving well. Head is just above my bladder (don't I know it) with it's back to the left. She asked if I had my bags packed! What! SERIOUSLY!!! I'm still expecting 4 -5 more weeks! So I came home and washed all my nappies just to make myself feel a little bit prepared! Don't they look lovely!!!

sewing for baby

A little bit of sewing for the bun in the oven today. A bit of a hem on a piece of muslin for a wrap and pieceing together fabric squares for a quilt. The quilt has been so easy so far...not perfect but easy. Mind you all the fabric is pre-cut so i just match them up and sew. Next I just need to find some backing fabric and quilt it all together.

And this is a shot of me modelling Asher in a little bit of sewing that was done for me. The very clever Leah made this mei tai for me as a part of a trade with Carmen. It's faulous and i love it!!! Thanks ladies:D

my little photographer

Tikki's post here has reminded me to share some pics by the avid little photographer in the house, Tully. There are so many great shots she has taken on our camera but I've refined it to some fav's. I love her vision and composition, oh and the inclusion of her pretty pink fairy tulle!

big bellies (excuse the little cleavage)

and pixies in the making...stocking randomly soon;)

summer lovin'

Finally a little bit of summer the last few days. It's been way too mild around here and although I'm not cherishing the thought of heatwaves or anything, it's so nice to have some real summer weather for a change.

We went for a quick visit to Warrny this weekend and Lach took the kids for a quick spin in the little boats down at Lake Pertobe. A huge hit for Asher, although Tully was lost in dreams of wedding boats and castles on the water.

I've also started thinking it's about time I get some stuff ready for the newest little member of our household. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has flown by and am a bit sorry to say I have made pretty much nothing for this little bubba. So I've been pulling out patterns and fabric from the stash and planning away. Pixies are in the plans of course, along with some printed tee's. But there are also plans for little quilts from these charm squares. I've never made a quilt before, I'm very lucky to have a clever mumma who makes them for my kiddies and myself. I have bought fabric so many times with the intention of making quilts though. This little charm pack has the perfect amount for a little quilt for the hammock or pram and are perfectly gender neutral. I've had a go at laying them out and getting the colour flow right so now just to sew them together.

I've also been adding to the stash. Found some great yellows finally via Kelani fabric store. Why are good yellows so hard to find?

I've also been very lucky that my clever mum is also a great knitter. These soakers are for the new bubba and are from wool from my stash which has been knitted and frogged a couple of times (I'm so not a knitter). Finally they have a new life and are just perfect. They're everlasting wonder soakers which is a definite fav pattern here for great fit and longevity.

And the last little number is from the ever talented and generous Tikki. Two little fish washcloths and some great washers for the bubba. The cloths for the bub were meant to be dishcloths but the cotton is too soft and lovely to be used to wash dishes and will be great for the bub. Tik whipped up another for Lily whilst they were staying before they kids bathed in no time flat, bloody amazing that girl....

3 weeks until D-day, although I know it will be more likely to be 5 weeks.....I'm a slow cooker

guests

we've had someone with gorgeous little chubby toes and an equally gorgeous smile visiting for the last few days. So much fun to be had every time we have these guys stay or catch up, which happily can be much more often these days.

There has been many, many hours of princess play, kiddy shenanigans, guitar noise and crafty discussions.

i've had help building on my wooly stash, although I've given up my attempts at knitting, a very kind and talented lass is happy to knit for me. I know, lucky aren't i! This is what is intended for this particular yarn.

Oh and cuddles...there has been lots of cuddles. I'm stoked to see how sweet and gentle my kiddies are with young Toby. Only 4 weeks until our due day so it's great to see how good they are around a little bundle.

tins

Lately I have aquired a couple of beaut old tins from my brother the collector/hoarder/garage sale nut, so thought I might show them off. My favourite is this fantastic one with the deer on it. It has a lovely folk feel to it and is now the home of many colourful threads. It seems natural that a box of such brilliant colour should contain a rainbow. I did have to fight Tully for it though, thankfully she was happy with a quality streets tin.

The hatbox tins were also pinched from the bro. They are just awesome and once given a bit of tlc will take pride of place in my sewing room. I love hatboxes but these are just that bit more special being tin. I'm a bit unsure on what colour to paint the red one. Maybe cream....what do you think?

And my last little tidbit isn't a tin, but I realised today that I hadn't shown this one off so thought I'd share it. I wish I could say that I made it but nope, my clever Mum did. She's a slight bag enthusiast (she's made more bags than i've had hotmeals lol) and gifted me the pattern and fabric for my birthday but I never got around to making it so she did for me. It's from a Melly and Me pattern and I love it.

life's a beach

Well it was for one day of our holiday. South west vic sure knows how to dish up some crazy summer weather some times.

Having just started a new job lach managed to scrape together a week of leave so we could have a little holiday. So a camping we went over to Port Fairy home of freezing winds, rain and noisy noisy shearwaters aka mutton birds. I've had many wonderful camping trips in Port Fairy but this one was definitley marred by the weather. Don't get me wrong it was stil a great holiday but only one day of summer and time at the beach the whole week and only on the day we were leaving just sucked. Oh well...one must learn not to mess with the weather especially in the great south west.

The kids loved camping though, they're great little campers. Once the strange noises of mutton birds returning to their nests in the middle of the night were sorted and Tully had deciced they were ok and could actually come to her birthday party (even though the only ones we actually saw were carcasses)we did enjoy ourselves to a degree. Lots of kite flying, sand digging, horse and carriage rides and visits over to Granny Annie and a new little cousin brought many smiles to little faces. The next camping trip before bub arrives and whilst the sun is shining is in the plans. Here's hoping for some sun:D

Apart from wet and windy camping trips i have also finished off a great batch of trades but was a bit of a silly duffa and accidentally erased all the pics from my camera. i'd even done some t-shirt painting which is a uber rarity nowdays. Now my plate is pretty much clear so on to some making for my kiddies and a bit of prep for the bub. Sweet Granny Annie gave me Amy Butler's new book for Chrissy and I have quite a few projects added to my list. Together with some gift making for two little additons to the family, it's all go go here.
