Otis Alec

For the past week I have been breathing in the sweetest smell in the world, the head of my newborn baby. I've been so caught up in the loving that I forgot to tell you guys about him! Shame on me.

Well little Otis Alec arrived last Saturday evening after a very quick and *hip hip hooray* totally natural, no medical intervention in the slightest, birth. After 3 days of prelabour I was very very pleased he decided the time was right, particularly as MIL had only arrived in town a few hours earlier to look after the cherubs.

He's my heaviest bubba at 3.92 kg and very suprisingly has a head of black hair. Lach and I are both fair and our other kids are strawberry blonde, red and snowy, so a little black head certainly came as a suprise. He is absolutely wonderful and thriving and doing lots of fantastic things, like only waking once in the night for a feed, and then having a whole heap of cluster feeds through the day. His big bro and sisters are totally smitten with him and Sage even shares her much loved breastfeeds with him. Tandem feeding is certainly full on and I admit I feel a bit like a milking machine, but they love it and I think it's all a bit special really.

So there you go, sorry for not letting you know sooner. Now to attempt some sewing....yeah right as if that's gonna happen. Maybe I'll just try and stuff a softie first.

pumpkin stories

Isn't it funny the things children are told about where babies come from? I was thinking this today as I uploaded these photos. I don't really "get" why someone would tell these sort of stories, I mean really, babies from pumpkin's? Brought by storks? We try to tell our kids the true story, although I must admit we do go along with Santa, easter bunny and fairies are very big here too. However, I'm not sure how much they really understand, particularly since Asher tells me he has an egg in his tummy and a tadpole is going to turn it into a boy baby and it's going to hatch any time now! hmmmm might have to clear that one up.

And the reason for all this talk is of course because we are expecting another little hatchling into our little family. Yep another bubba, nearly four months along now and I'm already looking like I've over-indulged on easter eggs. Oh well, must start telling people, although it would be quite fun to keep them guessing and see who would be game to actually ask!

So I "could" use the pregnancy as the reason for my hiatus, but nah I've just been a slack blogger and had little mojo, also not too much craftiness happening to share. I've had a lovely big break from the pixies and polly dolly's but that is about to be broken. Busy busy stuffing legs for a little stocking soon, kep posted I'll tell ya where soon.

two little toys for two little boys...

We've recently had two new additions to my family, two little boys Tobias and Declan. I've been a bit of a slacker at getting their pressies but have finally completed the last of them today, well I nearly have, just gotta add some wings. I haven't named the little fella's yet though, might get Tully to help me with that. Her last request for the bub's name was Merryweather and Asher's was Whale. hmmmmmm I think he's thinking of me actually.

You know how I said there wouldn't be any more pixies for a while...well I lied. Today I pulled out the fabric to have a go at mix and matching some colours, but have been put on hold by my lack of skin toned felt. I rang up Winterwood toys to order some more and was shocked to be told the fires were only 20 miutes from them. I felt a bit guilty and very apologetic as I was requesting felt asap, but the ladies are so lovely there. Of course they have been affected by the fires but are still working away...I guess you just have too! The pixies will be appearing over at the Bushfire relief appeal whilst some others will be included in comfort packs.

Oh and bub is now officially over due lol. I knew it would be and beside twinges I don't think much is happening yet. We're off to visit Mum for her birthday tomorrow so maybe bub will decide to make a show when we get home ....and not whilst we are away. Today I tackled the very daunting task of handwashing the beautiful shawl Mum made for Tully when she was a wee one. It's absolutely amazing , clever thing that she is. But I get so nervous washing it in fear it's going to stretch out of shape or something. Looks good still though :D

Have you checked out the Bushfire appeal over at Ozebaby yet???? Go and do so if you haven't, there are some great things up for auction. There's also some stuff coming up over at Gossamer Dreams in a few days as well.. And handmade help too:D

valentine oobee

Check out this sweet little Valentine Oobee that arrived in my mailbox today. Soooo Super sweet. I was lucky to get a custom one from the very clever Leslie from one girl I came across a post on her blog offering custom Valentine Oobee's and since bub is due Valentine's Day thought it would be the perfect gift from the kids. Well actually I lie, the bub's due the day before but Valentine's Day sounds so much nicer than friday 13th. Not that bub is likely to arrive on either of those days, but how could I go past an oobee! It is delightfully soft and cuddly. His name is Casanova and is made from a beautiful wool blend. I love him sooo:D

He's already hanging out in the hammock waiting for a bub to join him. The hammock has been set up from the day we got it, the kids had to put it up the moment it was delivered. Thankfully Tik was here with her hammock so I could check out that it looked right. The change table has been moved into our room as well with a bunch of gorgeous naps waiting for a bub. The two shelves aren't all bub's though. The basher boy is still tting. He's getting there, just slower than I had hoped.

Yesterday the postie delivered this book which I had posted about (yes, the postie has been making regular deliveries of late). It is a beautiful beautiful book! I had hoped that it would touch a little bit on where bub really comes from, although my kids do know. The ilustrations are amazing.

This one is my fav.

How sweet is that! Talk about a very baby orientated post! Well it is on my mind at the moment, although I am in no hurry for bub to come. I'm enjoying being pregnant. I'm not too huge and bub is nice and low and "YAY" has gone anterior again. I'm on a couple of homeopathic brews to hopefully encourage an arrival before the medical profession decides it really has been long enough. I'm still walking into town and up and down lots of hills (which is all this town is made from..hills!!)and of course crafting. Here's my latest baby in the works. I've been thinking about this little dollie for a while now. She's from some pics I drew ages ago and will hopefully turn out just as I envisage her. Well nah that ain't gonna happen, I hope she just turns out close to what I imagine. Just sneak peeks for the moment.
