vintage illustrations ....day 1

I love children's books so I couldn't pass up the latest meme that Pip has started up today. I'm going to try and post a picture from my favourite books each day, but we may just have to see how I go:)

I choose one of my books from when I was a child to start with. See my little girl writing in the window? Great placement:) A beautiful little golden book of Hansel and Gretel illustrated by Eloise Wilkin. I don't particularly like the story as the Grimm Brothers freak me out a bit, but the illustrations are just devine.

Although that witch is very scarey! Check out her fingers!!!!!

But of course everything ends happily ever after:) Gee I love those cheeks

I love this one. I have been collecting Eloise Wilkin LGBs for a few years now. I do remember the first time I read this to Lottie and wondering if she would be freaked out by those creepy witch fingers and terrified by the whole oven scenario, but she loves it. It is just me that gets scared, LOL.

I had this book too. I loved the bunk prison so much - I wanted one for my bedroom.
