beside the seaside.....

We're squeezing in as much as we can before the bubba arrives at the moment. Figuring it may be some time before we can go bushcamping again we set off for the long weekend down to a pretty little spot near Port Macdonald. We'd been told there was quite a bit of a drive off-road to get to the spot, no worries, we have a 4wd and are used to having to travel a bit off road. ummm not when I'm 37 weeks pregnant!!! By gosh I thought that baby was going to make an early arrival! All's good though and we're back home with everyone still in their right places...might have to give it another go in a few more weeks though.

Anyway it was a lovely spot. Great camp sites, nice calm sheltered beach, pity about the young hoons who decided to camp there as well and celebrate aus day with much hooning around sand dunes, playing very loud music and partying all night and most of the next day. Sheesh! ahhh the serenity of bush camping. This is just why we usually avoid camping over public holidays. Better remember it next time....

We did have a lovely time beside the sleeplessness. The weather was perfect. The kids had a bit of a fish on the jetty with Lach. Both got to wind in their first fish. Tully caught three different species, which is apparently very impressive.

She also spent a bit of time chasing Mr.Percival around and wondering where "Thunder boy" was.

Whilst the little rednut avoids the water and particularly seaweed as much as possible. Loves the beach, the waves and weed freak him out though.

So there's a bit of bushcamping crossed off the list for the moment. I wonder how old the little one need be before we go again. I keep thinking maybe easter but the thought of the crowds/hoons out camping sure doesn't inspire much of a want to get back into nature.

oh and watch out for Clara over the next day or so. She'll be up in the shop soon:)

on my desk....

How staged does this shot look.... well I wanted to show off what I was planning to do today. So here it is.

A couple of tee's. The top one's a pelican that I'm loving the look of. Pelican's are one of my fav birds. It's so sad the effect the failing river Murray is having on the life of these and so many other birds and wildlife. Sure they aren't a threatened species at the moment but I hate to think what sort of future they have with such a stuffed up environment. sigh....

The other two are gifts for some little girl we will be seeing soon. More matryoshka's!!!

Some nappies that I purchased to gift to some expectant mum's who plan on using cloth. Yay for cloth bum bubba's:D They were seconds (i'm not sure why) so I have to remove the tags that have been half chopped off. Great nappies to help start some little people's stashes.

And lastly a litle knitting project I finished last night and just have to sew in the end bits. Little, as it's just a scarf for Tully. Yep I'm not a knitter. Can't follow the gibberish, but I really like to just knit. That's it though. Just plain garter stitch with no increases, short rows, k2tog or any of that crazy language. I was pretty stoked with my little effort. Tully tried it on this morning and promptly told me it was too tight. Now really... And then I saw this post from my sis and well I just felt a little less proud. Shesh...how come she got all the knitting talent. Blimey! And to top it off I just noticed when pasting the link how much it matches the matryoshka's I made for Tully for her birthday. waaaaaaaa!

Go check out some much more creative desks over here

knitting gibberish

Tonight I sat down and read and reread this pattern of tikki's for a beanie that I want to make for Asher. I have some beautiful, beautiful wool that I got from Katanya that it just hiding away in a basket with the rest of my wool stash and UFO's. Damned if I can read the pattern properly though. I get it, but must admit I get a bit lost and just "know" that the beanie will end up sitting with all the other unfinished knitting attempts I have. The only thing I have ever finished was with a lot of help from Tikki. I'm not really sure why I don't "get" knitting but all that weird knitting gibberish just leaves me damned confused and I always, always have to wait until I see tik to get her to fix whatever stuff up I have made. So sadly the wool and needles (I have the right size too mind you!) will sit and wait in the hope that I can talk someone (I'm thinking Lach's Mum at the moment) into making this cute little beanie for me.

Anyway, I love this beanie and the little chick wearing it. I pinched the picture from tik's blog - she's my sis and even though I didn't get permission to use it (naughty blogging etiquette hey), I know she won't mind. If you are gifted with the knitting bug give it a try. I think it's a winner. Me, I'll just keep collecting wool and picking up all my unfinished attempts in vain (I really want to finish the everlasting wonder soaker as Basher NEEDS more soakers). As for the wonderful felted slippers I dream of, well I think I'll keep dreaming cause me and knitting just don't gel. BAH!!
