gocco a goer.......and a giveaway

Today I finally had a go at a gocco on a t-shirt. I've been meaning to do this for months but just kept putting it on the backburner. Talk about immediate gratification! I'm so stoked with how this turned out and how easy it was.

The image is a boobook owl that I painted on a tee for Tully for her 3rd birthday. The image is the sketch I made not the actual painting. I really like how the gocco still has the look of a sketch. Now I have sooooo many ideas for new sketches and tee's, so hopefully this will see the rekindling of my interest in doing tee's, as to be honset it has dropped off somewhat.

Now here's the giveaway bit... I've been meaning to do a giveaway since my 200th post, now 18 posts later here it finally is. If you like the little owl and would like to have one for the special little person in your life just leave me a message and let me kow why you like owls (cause I do) and what size tee and gender preference you would like. I only have size 0 to size 2 available and it will be up to me as to what colour I do use, got a limited supply you see. The tee's will be stripey bonds, so hopefully the image will look good on a stripey background. I'll leave this open until Tuesday morning so just leave a message here if your keen.

Now onto the baby stuff for today. Saw my midwife and bub is behaving well. Head is just above my bladder (don't I know it) with it's back to the left. She asked if I had my bags packed! What! SERIOUSLY!!! I'm still expecting 4 -5 more weeks! So I came home and washed all my nappies just to make myself feel a little bit prepared! Don't they look lovely!!!

on my desk....wednesday

Yay for Spring!!!! Spring has arrived and so has a lovely change in the weather. Just a couple of degrees warmer but 17 is so much nicer than 14! And blue skies! It's been a while since we've seen them. The rain has been wonderful and we certainly need more for the poor old rivers around here but my god it's so nice to have a little bit of dry weather to catch up on washing and go for walks without lugging all the wet weather gear along jic. On the first day of Spring Tully jumped out of bed expecting to see heaps of beautiful flowers and butterflies flitting everywhere in our yard. Poor little thing didn't know what was going on.

Along with the warmer weather has seen a bit of renewed ethusiasm and energy to "make" on my part. So today I have two desks to share.

This one is my desk in the warm lounge. Here is where I work away on pixies and do a bit of sketching in the evening and when it's really chilly. Hopefully these pixies will be making an appearnce in the shop some time soon along with some more tee's. It has been ages since I put anything up! Oh and can you see the little cherub sticking her head in the side of the shot. Funny little one...

And this is the other desk in the study/playroom. I've been doing a bit more sewing of little skirts and planning summer dresses and pants for the kidlets. A good friend had a beautiful little girl recently so I have also been scheming up some pressies for the dear little Bonnie along with a bit of painting for long overdue trades.

Busy busy desks....

pixies and pirates

A couple of little tee's finished for some little boys. Loving both of them and so much fun to be painting again. Gee I needed the break and it sure was a big one but I'm right back into it now. Full steam ahead!

ahoy me hearties!

*** crap shots taken with flash. grrrr. Apparently there is no sun anymore. Just clouds and rain. Brrrrrrrr

Mr. Percival

Well Mr.Percival is all done and up in the shop I'm very happy with how he's turned out and hopefully someone else will be too:D

I've also got a few pixies waiting their turn for a bit of attention. They will be up before the weeks end. We're off across the border for a brief catch up with family and friends and to celebrate the big 4 for the Tullster so I've got to sell, sell, sell to help pay for the crazy costs of petrol (and my planned visit's into many country oppie's along the way). At least the rain is bucketing down and we are housebound so I am being quite efficient today and my list of things to finish before Thursday is getting shorter!

on my desk....

How staged does this shot look.... well I wanted to show off what I was planning to do today. So here it is.

A couple of tee's. The top one's a pelican that I'm loving the look of. Pelican's are one of my fav birds. It's so sad the effect the failing river Murray is having on the life of these and so many other birds and wildlife. Sure they aren't a threatened species at the moment but I hate to think what sort of future they have with such a stuffed up environment. sigh....

The other two are gifts for some little girl we will be seeing soon. More matryoshka's!!!

Some nappies that I purchased to gift to some expectant mum's who plan on using cloth. Yay for cloth bum bubba's:D They were seconds (i'm not sure why) so I have to remove the tags that have been half chopped off. Great nappies to help start some little people's stashes.

And lastly a litle knitting project I finished last night and just have to sew in the end bits. Little, as it's just a scarf for Tully. Yep I'm not a knitter. Can't follow the gibberish, but I really like to just knit. That's it though. Just plain garter stitch with no increases, short rows, k2tog or any of that crazy language. I was pretty stoked with my little effort. Tully tried it on this morning and promptly told me it was too tight. Now really... And then I saw this post from my sis and well I just felt a little less proud. Shesh...how come she got all the knitting talent. Blimey! And to top it off I just noticed when pasting the link how much it matches the matryoshka's I made for Tully for her birthday. waaaaaaaa!

Go check out some much more creative desks over here

new stock

Norman Gnome, along with two little friends will be going up in the shop today. He's a new favourite so I think there will definitely be more little Norman's to come.

ozebaby updates

A couple more tee's will be making an appearance over in the ozebaby store today. The pixie will be an auction but the little geisha will have a buy now on her.

I particularly love the gorgeous eric carle "The very hungry caterpillar" fabric. The book is a favourite here. When I asked Tully what book the fabric was from she said "in the light of the moon". I was perplexed for a bit until I realised it was the first line in the book. Cute. I got the fabric from here but sadly I think I got the last cut in store

Back later today for what's on my desk. Gotta feed the troops now.

on my desk....wednesday

Today's "on my desk" is a bit of a follow on from yesterday's post, the final stage in finishing off a tee, the heat setting. I do pop a piece of baking paper over the painting but thought I'd show the finished matryoshka rather than a blank piece of paper.

You may also spy some gorgeous fabric from pippijoe I love it! It's hemp too which I didn't realise when I bought it.

And under the fabric is my brand spanking new sketch book that I got for Mother's Day. Love a new sketch book and can't wait to fill it with scribbles.

The little matryoshka's will be going up in the shop later today. We're off to the op-shop and playground as it's a gorgeous day out today, but is supposed to turn wet and wild over the next few days, so we best enjoy it while we can.

Off to enjoy the sunshine. Go and check out some more desks over at kootoyoo if you like, there's lots of inspiring stuff out there

matryoshka's on the go

Thought I'd share some pictures of a couple of little tops I'm finishing off today and how they progress from sketches to the final pic.

I originally sketched the matryoshka for Tully but since she only wears dresses it's no use painting tops for her as they just get covered up. We did have a few tears today as she really wanted one of the tops, even though I told her they would be too small, so it has been agreed I will paint one on a dress for her.

So first a couple of little applique tummies.

Followed by a sketch of the doll's outline.

And then the paint. I like to do about 3 layers of paint and then add the fine details last. I had hoped to be at the stage of final details completed by now but Asher decided he didn't want to sleep today and has only just gone down for a sleep at 5pm. Oh well.... there's always tomorrow. Which is when I will hopefully be listing these two little lasses.

Along with one of my favourite stencil designs. Asher has had quite a few tops with this design on them, I like it a lot.

new pixies

Say hi to Jasper. He will be making an appearance over in the shop today. Go and check him out, he's very friendly.

Another addition to the pixie clan is Tully's new mate , who is yet to be named. Knowing Tully she'll be bestowed with a fabulous name, although her naming of our perch as Amy is really quite lovely.

Things are going very slowly at the moment. We had guests on the weekend so I spent a good portion of last week giving the house a good clean so not a lot of pixie making went down. I do have a couple cut out and on the way AND some t-shirts all ready for a bit of applique and then finaly some painting. THEN Iwant to get my gocco out for a spin this weekend! We have a friend's 30th though so there may be a bit of sore headness to conquer, although we did pass on the bus tour of the wineries so it may not be too bad.

still here...

I haven't been abducted by little green men. I've just been drawing them:) He's a bit cute hey. Hopefully he'll make an appearance on something sometime soon.

I'm not too sure where the last week went. It sure wasn't in a flurry of productivity craft wise. I have finished yet another pixie for my tulster and nearly another one for the shop. I've been doing a little bit of doodling and thinking about the gocco. I can't believe I still haven't got it going. Well I can really:) I have a bit of a list of things to do and I really want to do them before I pull out the gocco or I know they just won't get done. I'm pretty keen to get that little printing machine going though!

In the next week or two I'm hoping to have a bit of a stocking of some tee's as it's been a while since I've done much. I have some new sketches, like the little alien dude that I would like to pop up. I also have some more girlie pixie softies cut out so they will hopefully appear before too long as well.

Tulster is a big kindy girl now having started pre-entry today. She loved it which is so cool. I'm in search of something cool for her to store her lunch in. I have seen some pretty fab lunch bag thingies on etsy made out of wetsuit material and I'd love to make her something similar. I don't think Lach will let me chop up his wettie so I may need to find an alternative to use. Hmmm....... any ideas?

bloomin' lurgy's

What a crazy weekend we had here. A bit yuck really. The kids and I have colds for about a week, hankies go in and out of the wash with disgusting speed. Gross. Poor little Asher also came down with an ear infection on Saturday which resulted in some very sleepless nights for us all and very zombiesque people yesterday. And we're still all full of the dreaded lurgy! Poor us! Lach is the only trouper who hasn't come down with it.

So regardless to say not a lot was achieved over the weekend. However, I did pull out the paints brushes and finally finished the t-shirt that has been sitting on my easel for the last coule of weeks. It's going off to tikki's to become a pikki tint set and should make an appearance on ozebaby sometime soon. I also started 2 t-shirt to go with a couple of softies, which I have also finished.

Keo (above) is all ready to go and his little friend Gertie just needs some more stuffing and wings. I also made a couple of hairclips inspired by the accessories Gertie was sporting. They should be up in the shop some time today.

granny annie goodness

Graany Annie (aka my mum) and my brother David came to visit this weekend and I well and truely got spoilt. Mum is a bit of afabric addict like Tikki so we hit the quilting shopsjust for a look. I was very spoilt and mum purchased this great bag pattern along with some gorgeous amy butler fabric to make it with. Isn't she ace! It's for my b'day which is still over a month away. Hopefully I'll have the bag made by then!

She also spoilt me by giving me this quilt I have been hinting for. Well actually I've been harassing her for it :) Mum has made both my kids cot quilts (havei shown them off?) and both are made from flannel. I love the snuggly feeling and texture of quilts made with flannel. This one was one the first Mum made and I've always loved it. I'm normally not into floral but i so love this. I can' wait for the cool weather and then it's going straight on my bed!

I couldn't go to a craft shop and not purchase any fabric now could I. This is the little bundle i purchased. Some are intended for softies and other tee's. The light blue with the silhouettes was another gift from annie and I'm hoping to make it into a dress for tully. She better wear it if I do!

And last a few tee's ready for some paint. One for a little 2 year old miss who also has a softie ready for a gift but i forgot to take a pic of it, one for a promised prize and one for the shop. Hopefully my pixies will let me paint them today :)

seeking....

My stock of tees is getting low at the moment so I headed to the shops today to hunt some down. And this is ALL I came home with! Bugger hey! I think I left it a bit late:$ Only one boys one amongst them! Oh well, I do like the new winter colurs Bonds is using though.

Upon returning home i had 2 parcels waiting in my box. The very talented Donna from Bits for Bots had sent me this stunning nappy and some fab wool blend as a part of a trade. The nappy was an absolute surprise! How generous! Now this is why i love cloth nappies so much. How devine is that nappy compared to a piece of plastic? Not even worth comparing hey, especially if you could feel it! It's lush man!

My other parcel contained some much awaited wool felt from Winterwood toys Beautiful stuff. So I'm ready for the softies now :D Those tee's might just have to wait a bit.

And last is a piece of fabric I found in a little shop in Port Fairy. My little man loves fire engines so I couldn't leave it behind. Not sure exactly what it's going to become yet though.

happy accidents

so Lach gave me a pretty decent break yesterday :) and I was able to get 3 tees finished and up into the shop today. I popped the up and then went and did the groceries and upon returning home found they were all sold ( a huge thankyou to a very generous lady). A bit surprised as i thought they would take a while being smaller sizes however tikki has also stocked today and last time i looked she had some fab new stuff still available.

Anyway these are the little numbers i put up. Twit and twoo was the happy accident. After i had appliqued him i discovered he was off centre so twoo was born and i am so pleased with how he turned out. They are such a cute little pair. Tully thought they should be for her of course. :D

And i'm pretty happy with how the cloth bum buba's turned out. I think i'll do more of this little guy. Some girlie version will be sweet too. I have the same leaf fabric in pinks and black and pink. Lach did say that the rednut resembles a flanders kid a bit :O a big raspberry to him

A bit of an influx of tee's hey! Well i'm still waiting on material for softies. :( Bloody postie lost one parcel (grrr) and the other one was only sent on friday. Poor softies having to wait :(

sketches and scribbles

I love this new design of the cloth bum bubba. I've always used cloth on my kids and am pretty proud of that fact. I started using them purely for environmental reasons but budget and appearance have also played a huge part. I'm planning on using this little sketch/ scribble on quite a few tee's. The writing won't be on the tees though. It's a bit naff :$ I already have two leaves and nappies appliqued ready for painting today.

This is another little sketch i did ages ago and have been meaning to pop on a tee. Hopefuly this little fella will make an appearance soon.

And below is a line up of the next lot of tees for the shop. All boyish colours but quite small. Boys larger sizes are always the hardest to find :(

I should be able to get this lot done to go up sometime next week. Lach tells me he's taking the kids over to a mates today so it may just happen.

stocked

These little ladies are my first stocking over at ozebaby for the year. I shouldn't have favourites but little ebony is a bit of a stunner :) Poor little alice has been marked as a second as something strange happened to her arm when i heat set her. She's still gorgeous, just not 100% :(
I'll hopefully have some boys stuff coming up soon but for the moment I have a surplus of girlie tees.

I am absolutley busting to get making a few softies but the gremlins are putting kinks in the system so I may just get a few more tees done before all the fabric for the softie love arrives

Oh and the tees will go live this arvo some time.

back into it

It seems like absolutley ages since i did my last little tee but I'm back into it this week:) This little lass is brodie and she just needs some paint layers and some friends :) before i pop her up in the shop. I'm off camping again this weekend ( gotta make the most of the sun while it's here) so it will probably be late next week that she'lll make an appearance.

I usually paint and sew whilst the little man is snoozing. My little apprentice is always by my side helping out though. Ahhh the creative energy ....
