creative space day again

Gee I've become a slack blogger. Seems like I'm only sharing creative spaces of late, opps.... Gotta love a meme to keep you in touch, hey!

Well today has been all about Gocco. I haven't actually pulled it out and dusted it off just yet, but I have been getting my little chrissy card all ready to print. This years chrissy card is a light adaption from last years with a little addition of a cheeky toothy cherub. Tully and Asher are wanting to make their own as well so this weekend is shaping up to be a bit of a goccofest. yay! Wonder if the big fella will be inspired to?

Along with gocco I'm also sewing away at some angels, pixies, dresses for my girls and an apron. I'm crossing off my list just like Santa. Slowly I'm seeig the end of the tunnel, but then a UFO crops up like this little basket of granny's. hmmmm well she does seem to like them as they are though! Might just leave them on the backburner for a while.

ooo and lookie what we were super lucky to win! A giveaway from Claire from littletweetheart gorgeous, yes!

today's creative space

I really, really wanted to tackle this pile of fun this week, but nah I got a tummy bug instead didn't i! Once recovered there was much swimming to be done with this unseasonal heatwave and then the kids have just been ...hmmm ....well not very conducive to crafting. So the pile is still calling me. However, it will be bundled up for a little roadtrip over the border to the land of tikki where it will get some attention and hopefully some lovely results for some lovely peeps.

More crafting over here

Ohhh and go and check out the stocking over at Gossamer Dreams on Sunday night and see what little else I achieved this week, yep I stuffed three wee little angels and heatset a tee. wooohooo!

my creative space

What a glorious day it is! Sunshine has finally come to town this week, my it's been a long time coming. Unfortunately, today we also have a the biggest miss with a fever so we're homebound. Creativity has been in small snippets, but here's what I've been up to.

Little angel decorations getting ready for a stocking over here on Sunday night. There is quite a mob of them actually, and more to come.

Hoping to get started on a couple of patterns. Everything is ready, I just need to squeeze in sometime at the machine. Not so easy somedays.....The littlest bubba is quite happy with a couple of 20 min sleeps a day, but it can be a little draining. So although she is awesome and goes down early, I'm usually to buggered by evening to face the sewing machine.

Another thing which the little miss makes a bit difficult is painting. Yesterday I gave it a good go whilst Sage slept in the sling (at least it was for longer than 20 min) but once she was awake there was no hope. So painting may be squeezed in today, but then again it probably won't be. So I wouldn't hold your breath for any painted tee's at Sunday's night stocking. Angel's, definitely.... pixies, nah.... hairclips, uh huh.....tee's, not a chance.

my creative space

Rather poignantly, my creative space today consists of little angels. Poignantly because today is Pregnancy and Infant loss Rememberance Day. Eight years ago our first little angel, Meika was stillborn so it's very bittersweet to have angels in my space today, particularly as the angel I have just completed has red curly hair, just as I always imagined Meika to have. Today's space has had tears and sad memeories but also extra cuddles for Meika's siblings.

I began sketching these little angels whilst away and haven't been able to stop thinking about how I would make them. So even though I have many others projects and trades to complete I had to get these made and "out there". After 3 attempts my little angel is just as I imagined her, cute. Sage seems to like her as well, which is lucky as she gets all the prototypes.

How very special that she was completed just in time for today. In memory of my own little angel and her many, many little friends I would like to offer a giveaway of one of these little angels. Simply leave a comment and spare a thought for all the lost little souls and their families, and I'll make up a special little spirit for your Christmas tree. Entries will close Sunday evening.

It's all pixies and pants today:) Getting some pixies done for a stocking in a few weeks and pants for the kids whose ankles are starting to hang under the hems of their old ones. Lots of lovely Japanese fabrics to play with too. Master Asher choose the cars for the pockets for his pants , I totally love this fabric but I equally love the alice in wonderland as well.

It's all go go go as I'm trying to get as much done as possible before we head off on a holiday to the Flinders Ranges on the weekend. We're camping for a few weeks....ohhhh the excitement!! wooot!

my creative space

I have so many little things on the go right now but somehow I just keep adding to the list. I'm in total agreement to Holly Hobbie, yes indeed happiness is found in the little things, so beside Holly these little things are indeed making me happy.

I've been doing a little bit of t-shirt painting and pixie making but I'll share those pics when they're with their recipients. There's been a little bit of dress making, quilt hand sewing, knitting and my latest obsession, crochet of ye old granny square. I must admit that it took me a bit to figure out the crochet thing. First, I checked out the instructions in a prominent new crafting book but it was a bit gobbly gook to me, then I tried clever knitting extraordinaire sis but learning from a lefty was too hard, then you-tube..no luck, but then I went back to my crafting roots and got good old mum to show me, and voila...I got it. With the help of a little book she lent me I'm now churning out grannies and even eyeing off other crochet variations. Next amigurumi...am I dreaming????

Other little things making me happy are these little Heather Bailey finds from Spotlight. Who would have thought it! Admittedly they are scrapbooking supplies and I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with them, but I love them just the same.

My little cooking mate makes me happy, how could he not! His missing his school girl sis terribly so we spend a lot more time doing stuff.

And of course this little miss always makes me happy. Snuggled close 24/7, My crafting companion.

Today I'm celebrating one of my greatest creations, yes it's a celebration of Miss Tully Lila turning 5. As all mum's now our creations certainly don't get any greater than our children. We've been up very very early, had a picnic at the park, browsed the toy shops, bought a new drawing book and now we're home and all is quiet thanks to sleeping children who may have gotten up just a bit too early.

I could get out some crafting now but I've just been making a zillion little clips and I'm a bit clipped out. I really need to get a baking but little miss Sage doesn't really like that idea

I'd love to sit on a mushroom in the sunshine ;)

but instead I think I'll relax and read my new fav mag and smile at the bub

Intensely pink, isn't it! My creative space today consists of invite's for Miss Tully's 5th birthday and a bit of clip making. Of course Tully's favourite colour is pink and the more intense the better, whose isn't at that age?

I had planned on making the invite's with the gocco but after wasting 3 screens and 3 sets of bulbs, I realised the image wasn't carbon based and thus would not work, so I just printed them on the printer. The same printer that I've bought with the intention of using for gocco! derrrrr. Oh well, Tully doesn't care and I'm sure the invitee's won't care either....but i do!

The clips are for the local love stocking over on ozebaby. There's a few others up and going up today or tomorrow (depends if the baby who is attached to me and refuses to sleep by herself, will actually settle). Auctions that are up will be finishing today. Crazily there are a pair of tikki's awesome pants that have not even had a bid! Do you know how awesome these are!!! Quick go and bid on them now!

And this is my big soon to be 5 year old. She finished kindy yesterday and starts school after the holidays (weirdo SA schooling). Oh my goodnes they just grow way too fast! And yes, she does believe she's a princess, although she does want to grow up to be a fairy or a mermaid and thinks she should be going to mermaid school.

Previewing now and going live tomorrow night....maybe around 9ish (sa time)????

my creative space

My creative space has been documented today by my little miss, Tully. Loves a bit of camera action she does, and has quite a good eye for it too. Out of every 20 shots there's always a few good shots, great composition and in focus to boot!

Anyway I digress, today in my creative space a bit of knitting has been going on. Me and knitting have never gone to well together but my clever sis, Tikki has been visiting and she always inspires me to pick up the needles. I was going to have a go at one of her rainbow dresses but once the stitch marker came out and there was talk of increases and stuff, I threw it in and opted for a scarf. Easy knitting and me are great friends. One day I may have a go at a rainbow but for now scarf's are great, and much needed to boot. Double winner!

And why do I need to knit anyway when the ever clever and generous sis gifts me with awesome knits. This visit was populated with quite a few knitting gifts, however, the most fabulous were the very popular milo vest and a very special little rainbow dress. Tikki has recently released the pattern for the milo over on ozebaby and it's selling like hotcakes. Asher's features the owl cable but there are many more cable styles to choose from. See why it's so popular? And apparently super easy for beginners, although I wouldn't know as it does incude stitchmarkers and omg cables!!!

And now for the rainbow dress for the very sweet Sage. Gorgeous yes! I haven't tried it on her yet, it's still drying after blocking.

This very special little rainbow has a few variations to the normal pattern though. Check out the oh so cute sleeve and a little picot hem. It will also feature a little ribbon through the bodice when I get of my butt and find some. Modelling shots to come soon.

It sure is the weather for knitting. Brrrrrr winter has set in down here, I reckon there may be even more knitting creative spaces over at Kirsty's.

my creative space

This morning I got up with the intention of being very creative and get some pixies finished. I had nearly completed one the night before but had retired after "Lost" was finished (now what is going on in that show!). So the intention was there 80% but the achievement was more like 10%. I only had a couple of jobs, you know like pop the nappies in the machine and sweep the floor sort of stuff, not heaps of housework. But no....the kids had other plans. You know those days when the little one won't sleep for more than 20 min, you don't get to shower until lunch time and you escape mid arvo as it's all going crazy. So today I'm posting a piccie of where everything sat waiting for me to get to it. There's a nearly finished pixie in way cool cookie fabric, some more on top of the little yellow sewing box awaiting some attention and some paper waiting to be goccoed for thanks you's for pressies for the little miss, all waiting, waiting, waiting... Today all I achieved was some blanket stitiching on half a wing. That's it!

Oh look I just spied Tully's fabulous soup packet creation and some missing snappies (so that's where they are!) Much more interesting creative spaces over at Kirsty's.

my creative space

Not too much creativity being squeezed in today but thought I'd join in this meme anyway, it might get me posting more often.

The extent of my creative endeavours today consisted of a little bit of sewing and a lot of cuddling one of my greatest creations on the couch, in front of a sweet little movie "Fairytale" with a big fairy lover by my side ohhing and ahhhing. I spend alot of time with the little one by my side, in my arms and strapped to my body. I can do most things with her by my side, although I still haven't figured out how to use the sewing machine with her swaddled to me yet, may just have to wait until I can back carry for that one.

More creativity to be found tonight when all little uns are tucked up tight and over here thanks to Kirsty:)

on my desk....wednesday

Yay for Spring!!!! Spring has arrived and so has a lovely change in the weather. Just a couple of degrees warmer but 17 is so much nicer than 14! And blue skies! It's been a while since we've seen them. The rain has been wonderful and we certainly need more for the poor old rivers around here but my god it's so nice to have a little bit of dry weather to catch up on washing and go for walks without lugging all the wet weather gear along jic. On the first day of Spring Tully jumped out of bed expecting to see heaps of beautiful flowers and butterflies flitting everywhere in our yard. Poor little thing didn't know what was going on.

Along with the warmer weather has seen a bit of renewed ethusiasm and energy to "make" on my part. So today I have two desks to share.

This one is my desk in the warm lounge. Here is where I work away on pixies and do a bit of sketching in the evening and when it's really chilly. Hopefully these pixies will be making an appearnce in the shop some time soon along with some more tee's. It has been ages since I put anything up! Oh and can you see the little cherub sticking her head in the side of the shot. Funny little one...

And this is the other desk in the study/playroom. I've been doing a bit more sewing of little skirts and planning summer dresses and pants for the kidlets. A good friend had a beautiful little girl recently so I have also been scheming up some pressies for the dear little Bonnie along with a bit of painting for long overdue trades.

Busy busy desks....

on my desk ....

gee it's been a while since i joined in this meme. But to be honest nothing very different had been happening on my desk. However, the last few days I have been doing a little bit of painting and printing. It has been ages since I have done either and I'm really enjoying it.

I've been painting a couple of tee's for some trades for some very patient mumma's. My list of to do is getting shorter and I'm very thankful that these ladies have been so patient. I'll share pics of what I've been painting in another post when they are finished. After this lot are done then hopefully I'll get something done for the shop. It's been ages since I've popped anything up.

The gocco was pulled out last night so I could finally get some tags made. I'd been wanting to do these for yonks but wanted to photocopy the image to make sure I got a good print. It worked out great although I was a bit stupid and cut a lot of my paper the wrong size and hence have a lot of cropped tags but hey I'm not after perfection. Here's some of the tags being modelled by some pixies.

There is also a neglected pile on the end of my desk waiting for a turn in the washing machine. The weather lately has not been conducive to washing so my pile of material to wash is slowly growing. There's some denim waiting to be made into a painted pini for Tully, op-shopped wool blend, cord and some gorgeous prints from Hollabee. All destined to be clothing for she who must only wear skirts or dresses and the little dude who currently believes the only place he can sit is on top of me. Don't think I'll be achieving as much as I would like today!

on my desk....

How staged does this shot look.... well I wanted to show off what I was planning to do today. So here it is.

A couple of tee's. The top one's a pelican that I'm loving the look of. Pelican's are one of my fav birds. It's so sad the effect the failing river Murray is having on the life of these and so many other birds and wildlife. Sure they aren't a threatened species at the moment but I hate to think what sort of future they have with such a stuffed up environment. sigh....

The other two are gifts for some little girl we will be seeing soon. More matryoshka's!!!

Some nappies that I purchased to gift to some expectant mum's who plan on using cloth. Yay for cloth bum bubba's:D They were seconds (i'm not sure why) so I have to remove the tags that have been half chopped off. Great nappies to help start some little people's stashes.

And lastly a litle knitting project I finished last night and just have to sew in the end bits. Little, as it's just a scarf for Tully. Yep I'm not a knitter. Can't follow the gibberish, but I really like to just knit. That's it though. Just plain garter stitch with no increases, short rows, k2tog or any of that crazy language. I was pretty stoked with my little effort. Tully tried it on this morning and promptly told me it was too tight. Now really... And then I saw this post from my sis and well I just felt a little less proud. Shesh...how come she got all the knitting talent. Blimey! And to top it off I just noticed when pasting the link how much it matches the matryoshka's I made for Tully for her birthday. waaaaaaaa!

on my desk.....

Today's desk was the lounge room floor which Tully and I covered with lots of fabric scraps, wool, little pom poms, pegs and other crafting bits in the great pursuit of making peg dolls. Oh such fun! Tully's are all princesses and mine aren't! Can you pick the princesses?

no fish today.....Friday archives

I decided to hunt through some old sketchbooks for today's friday archives contribution and came across this little sketch that I did in 1995. It seems that a lot of the sketches that I'm sharing are from this year. It must have been a productive year for me.

I used to go fishing a lot with friends. That happens when your friends are doing aquatic science degree's. I was the art student who would sit and sketch whilst everyone else fished. I'd have a go at fishing but often became a bit bored or scared that I might actually catch something. Down the side of this sketch is a little note "No fish today" which actually happened quite often and still does when I go fishing with Lach, my partner. I have also noted the place we were fishing, Jubilee Park (a caravan park) on the outskirts of Warrnambool. If you look carefully you might spy a little bus on the other side of the river.

I also figured out how to add the friday archives badge this week. Thanks Sherrin!
