tully's owl

this is a sketch i've made for a tee for tully. Tully is obsessed with owl's. she loves them and gets really excited when she sees one in a book. we went to the zoo last weekend for asher's b'day and the highlight for tully was seeing an owl. I love that she is in love with such a special bird. So latley she's been asking me to do an owl on a tee for her. every time she see's me painting she asks if i'm painting tully's owl. so my next project is tully's owl. she has a navy top that's a bit boring so i'm going to put him on that.

he's a barking owl but i've made him a bit browner than she should be. oh well artistic licence.

and below is shelby. i'm a huge collector of shells. i can't believe i haven't made one with a shell before this. i think this is a whelk that he's holding but i couldn't find a perfect rep of what it was so i'm going with whelk. if anyone can correct me please let me know.

i'm planning on doing some really large turbo shells on some smaller size tee's i have. i don't think the pixies would look so good on really little tee's and i have a couple of 00's i want to do something with. so hopefully that's what i'll do next after i do tully's owl and a trade i've been menaing to do for ages.

oh and they go live tonight at 9pm ish SA time.

finished pixies

so here is bettie bow all finished. i added in the grass for something extra and i like it. i like her...if she was tully's size i reckon i might have kept her.

















and this little fella is gummy. He's pretty cute. gummy cause he's got a gumnut and gumleaf. i'm not very imaginative on the names at the moment. He's a size 2.

i want to do a few more before i send these guys live. hopefully i'll have 3 more to add by the end of the weekend. here's hoping ...but lachie is going away so i've got the kids by myself so it may not happen. anyway they'll go live sometime next week. i'll post a message on here so if anyone is reading and wants one they'll know when to get one lol

bloomin'camera

well my bloody camera packed it in the night before asher's b'day so we didn't get any shots of his speial day:( oh well we had a great day. went to the zoo and had a ball. day was perfect. weather was great, kids were perfect and the animals were awake lol. asher thinks everything is a dog and *woofs* at all animals. very funny woofing at the giraffes

can you believe that i hav a second camera. what i thought was my trusty old slr but that had ceased up as i hadn't used it for so long and i think it had sand or soemthing in it from the last time i used it.

oh well lach borrowed a super duper camera from work for me to use. a canon digital slr. i sooo want it!

so here is bettie bow at the next stage. I've started blocking in the colours and so far i'm pretty happy with what i've chosen. she'll also have green stripes on her pants and on the dolls dress. I think the doll will also have yellow hair. the tones will change as i progress but basically this is the colour palette i'm going with.
and shroom is finished. all ready to be wrapped up for asher's b'day tomorrow. Not sure if he'll fit into it yet but will be gorgeous on my little rednut. we're off to the zoo for the big 1st b'day. will post some pics of the special day.

some of my fabric stash

Just some of the fabric residing in my fabric stash at the moment. The first two are for asher. the green with the alphabet my sweet little mum just sent to me and i got the other stuff in her fav shop. The next lot is also for asher. Not sure wht they are going to actuallybe but i'm sure i'll figure it out. the strawberry stuff is not for asher rather for my little strawberry doll, tully. she has strawberry blonde hair, loves to eat them and of course loves strawberry shortcake. i was going to make this stuff up for something for summer..opps
and last is some real vintage stuff. My mum made a skirt for one of my sister's when shewas 6 or 7 and sheturns 40 this year. this is the off-cuts which have been stored away since then. perfect too. I love Holly hobbie too and this print is just divine. have some plans for this stuff and some co-ordinating material to go with it. just have to get my machine out of retirement.

a couple of tees on the go . i've just started sketching the image on the top one. love these colours so vibrant. think she has to be a yellow head but not sure on the other colours. i am a fan of orange, yellow and pink though

bottom dude is shroom and is for asher. i was going to put it on ozebaby but i sketched it in off centre. have blocked in the colours and just need to do a few more layers and then heat set and all ready for my b'day boy who turns 1 on saturday

my "studio"lol

so this is my studio. he he. pretty impressive hey. It's actually on a massive dining table that the owners of our rental left in the house. Luckily the rooms are all huge. we put it in our bedroom and the computer lives at the other end of it. It's actually fantastic. big enough for me to spread all my paints over...obviously very careful with them. would be a different story if i was oil painting.
this is also my sewing spot too. the table is big enougth that i can even cut some things out on it.

back into action ..pixie tee style

working on a couple of pixie tee's today to go up on ozebaby. One of them is a bit off centre so i'm gonna keep it for asher. bit of a bummer as it is one of the only size 1 stripey's i've been able to find. The other one is gorgeous pink/orange stripes in a smaller size..maybe a 0 i think ..can't remember right now lol. hope to get a few more done so i can put up about 5 in various colours, genders and sizes some time next week.

i have some beautiful organic cotton stripeys i'm going to devote to my endangered themes. Hope to get working on a corroboree frog one soon.

3 little mates

tully, asher and lily have been hanging out together for about a month and sadly tikki, andy and lily had to go back to vic today. The two little girls have especially enjoyed each others company. they are so gorgeous and play beautifully most of the time. They have certainly had their scraps and mini bitch fights over dollies or little brothers but on the whole they have been great. We have planned our next get-together but unfortunately it will be months away as distance plays to great a factor.

oh well....we've all had heaps of fun hanging out, doing a bit of sewing, painting, shopping and over indulging in beer and chocolate

marigold

Back i my teens i used to paint these pixies on card and give to friends and family to mark special occasions. They really do suit any format and so i decided to see how a little pixie on canvas would be received. She's bright and cheery and i hope she finds a home on a little person's wall who will love her.

She has been painted on a small winsor & newton brand canvas in artist quality acrylics. i tend to favour matisse and atelier as my acrylic brands of choice. She is painted in flat bold tones which enhances the childlike appeal and simplicity of these pixie images. She measures 200mm x 253mm and the canvas is 35 mm deep. i have yet to figure out the cost of postint so am waiting until i do so before i put it up for buy now:D

piKKi tint

this is the first of a few collaborations tikki and i are planning. cute as a button this little cherry pixie will be the only size 1 pinni we will be selling, so it's an absolute OOAK piece for the lucky winner. i have two pinni cuts for a size 3 and a 5 waiting to be painted...but you might have to wait a bit to see what i come up with:D

these tee's are my side of a trade i did with kate. you should see the fab nappies I got!!!!

tikki also made the pants as a part of a trade and i painted them with the butterflies and frangipani. cute huh

busy bees

lots of stuff has been happening here over easter. had some of lach's family staying so have had a very full house. tikki and i have finished one piece that i think is very special. planning on putting up a bit of a teaser on ozebaby very soon.
have also finished my side of a trade. i got some fantastic nappies from kate. gorgeous retro bamboo and blue velour bamboo ...delicious. and a very very very special wool cover. wow ! will post pics when i can get some decent one of my boy in them:D i'll pop up some pics of my trade too once kate has them.
have also just finished some handpainting on some pants tikki made for lily. Have painted lillies on the pockets...well what else for the little lily girl:D very cute...
have started knitting a soaker today. i'm a hopeless knitter and need lots of help from tikki.lol.

oh it was also my b'day yesterday on easter sunday. spoilt with lots of choc, lunch up in the hills at a brewery and some beautiful jewells from the lachmonster.

all these pics i made quite a while ago. i haven't created art for myself for quite awhile. first pen and ink pic is of one of my good friends. she has a couple of kids and it was done after the birth of her first.
next is a bit of a rep of mother earth/gaia and the web of life.

waiting for my baby painting

i started this painting 3 weeks before tully was due and i still haven't finished it. it's one of the many shells i have in my house. it's about 60cm square..i normally do huge paintings so this is quite small. i quite like it and will hopefully get my but into gear and finish it.

been awol

so i've been awol for ages. Lach went OS for a conference so i went to stay at Mum's and then tikki's rather than staying here on my lonesome. Tikki and i have been busy coming up with some great ideas for some very funky and fun pieces. Hopefully we'll geting to see at least one make it on to ozebaby before she goes home. oh yeah ..tik and lily are staying with us here while andy has gone north hunting and gathering. Hopefully our bambino's will cooperate and we'll get to be creative.

Anyway i've bought heaps of t's whilst i've been away and am getting some new pixies together. I've bought some beautiful stripey organic long-sleeved tee's that will get some very special endangered creatures painted on them. I'm thinking the next one might be a corroboree frog as one of our great mates works on these highly endangered little creatures. i want to make all of the endangered t's of creatures/plants that aren't widely known. sort of trying to help raise awareness yk....
i've also bought a small artist quality canvas that i'm gonna paint up with a little pixie. cute.... and hopefully someone will like the idea and i'll do heaps and then become really inspired and might even pick up a paintbrush and do a "real" painting. should actually show what some of my real paintigns look like. although i don't think tikki would agree to me showing the nudes i painted of her in year 12 lol..
