ruby girl
A couple of weeks ago we visited my sweet friend Ruby, an uber talented crafting chick who I lived with many moons ago. A cuppa and chat was all time allowed, along with indulging in some yummy brownies cooked up by my clever friend, SuziQ. It was all very civilised....except for my children running amok through Ruby's home dragging Sue's poor children around.
Ruby is a very clever seamstress who has been making some way cool bags of late. She doesn't sell on-line yet, but hopefully she'll get set up one day soon and share her talent. A little peak at her talent is being modelled by Tully, a very cute little dress in vintage fabric. I love it, it's stunning and sure to be a fav with Tul and little Sage for a long time to come.

show haul
What a crazy weekend! Phew I'm still buggered and it's the middle of the week already!! So why was it so crazy? Well we've been a visiting over in Victoria, attending weddings, having exciting rides on the ferry and hanging at the stitches and craft show:D(Myself, Sage, Tikki and Toby) Awesomeness + :D and the aquarium (the rest of the gang)
Firstly, it was Sage's first big journey and she travelled beautifully, yay! It's a bit squishy in the back seat now with three carseats but my wonderful cherubs all travelled beautifully. It helps that the big two are ever so excited about the destination! Lily's !!! Oh the excitement ...and we're heading back again this weekend for the little princesses 4th birthday. Excitement ++ :D
The wedding was one reason for the journey. Tully loved it and ohhhed and ahhhed at the bride, Asher found the toy box of cars and was entertained all evening and Sage, well Sage slept and cuddled as she does:D
Bright and early the next morning I was supposed to be up and ready ..but I was running late and made tik wait in anticipation of the show for over an hour (sorry again tik)But the wait was so worth it:D Upon entering we headed straight for the Indie section and spent the next couple of hours there. Mixtape, Dear Fi, Ric rac, Kristen Doran, Ink and Spindle, One red Robin, One girl and twiglet and Winterwood toys...and many others.... gosh talk about a bunch of awesome talent. I spent up big but could have purchased so much more! The rest of the show was so - so. If it wasn't for Amitie and Kelani I wouldn't have spent a cent in the main area. I had hoped pear tree yarn would have some awesome gradient dyed wool so I could attempt a tikki rainbow dress but alas, lucky for the purse. So here's my haul...

Ace little peg bear Nakasi from One Red Robin (Sage's teddy from Nana and Pa, thanks Nan and Pa)and wooden girl brooch kit, tin soldier and winter nest panels from Kristen Doran, tea set pattern from ric rac and little hair brooch kit from felt cuisine.

And then there's the fabric! Mixed pack from Ink and Spindle (Lara cameron aceness), a bit of Auntie Cookie, a variety of fat quarters and some wonderful rainbow dyed wool felt from Winterwood Toys. Most of the fabric is destined to be made into pixies. Tik and I have been discussing a very cool stocking, keep watch for more details over the next few weeks. I must warn you though that stockings from me may be a bit slow for a while. Things are a little bit slower with Sage (today she's hanging out in my awesome mei tai Leah made me, wonder if I can sew with her attached to my front ??) and we also have a pretty crazy social calendar AND are due to move yet again! I know we only just moved here nearly 6 months ago but our lease is finishing up and we wanted to move so Tully would be zoned to the school we want to send her to. Thankfully we only had to look at one house, it was ace and we got it. So as I was saying things maybe a bit sporadic for a bit:D
Ohhh and I nearly forgot the last awesome purchase. Chook leaf shoes for Tully. Perfectly prnincessY!

wooly awesomeness
ohhhahhhhh...pretty awesome hey????
I was super lucky to be part of a trade with the very talented Kris from Monsterknits. I've always admired Kris' stuff but have never been fortunate to score a pair so was super dooper stoked when Kris agreed to do a trade with me. I requested a spider orchid embellishment as Lach used to work on them when we were in Adelaide and they are so tiny, precious and vulnerable, just like a baby.
What an amazing piece of art Sage is so lucky to be able to wear and show-off. I can't wait until she fits into them, and i don't think she can either. Super lucky girl even received a bonus soaker in the loveliest colourway. Spoilt hey! Thanks sooo much Kris:D

my little photographer
Tikki's post here has reminded me to share some pics by the avid little photographer in the house, Tully. There are so many great shots she has taken on our camera but I've refined it to some fav's. I love her vision and composition, oh and the inclusion of her pretty pink fairy tulle!
big bellies (excuse the little cleavage)
and pixies in the making...stocking randomly soon;)
summer lovin'
Finally a little bit of summer the last few days. It's been way too mild around here and although I'm not cherishing the thought of heatwaves or anything, it's so nice to have some real summer weather for a change.
We went for a quick visit to Warrny this weekend and Lach took the kids for a quick spin in the little boats down at Lake Pertobe. A huge hit for Asher, although Tully was lost in dreams of wedding boats and castles on the water.
I've also started thinking it's about time I get some stuff ready for the newest little member of our household. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has flown by and am a bit sorry to say I have made pretty much nothing for this little bubba. So I've been pulling out patterns and fabric from the stash and planning away. Pixies are in the plans of course, along with some printed tee's. But there are also plans for little quilts from these charm squares. I've never made a quilt before, I'm very lucky to have a clever mumma who makes them for my kiddies and myself. I have bought fabric so many times with the intention of making quilts though. This little charm pack has the perfect amount for a little quilt for the hammock or pram and are perfectly gender neutral. I've had a go at laying them out and getting the colour flow right so now just to sew them together.
I've also been adding to the stash. Found some great yellows finally via Kelani fabric store. Why are good yellows so hard to find?
I've also been very lucky that my clever mum is also a great knitter. These soakers are for the new bubba and are from wool from my stash which has been knitted and frogged a couple of times (I'm so not a knitter). Finally they have a new life and are just perfect. They're everlasting wonder soakers which is a definite fav pattern here for great fit and longevity.
And the last little number is from the ever talented and generous Tikki. Two little fish washcloths and some great washers for the bubba. The cloths for the bub were meant to be dishcloths but the cotton is too soft and lovely to be used to wash dishes and will be great for the bub. Tik whipped up another for Lily whilst they were staying before they kids bathed in no time flat, bloody amazing that girl....
3 weeks until D-day, although I know it will be more likely to be 5 weeks.....I'm a slow cooker

guests
we've had someone with gorgeous little chubby toes and an equally gorgeous smile visiting for the last few days. So much fun to be had every time we have these guys stay or catch up, which happily can be much more often these days.
There has been many, many hours of princess play, kiddy shenanigans, guitar noise and crafty discussions.
i've had help building on my wooly stash, although I've given up my attempts at knitting, a very kind and talented lass is happy to knit for me. I know, lucky aren't i! This is what is intended for this particular yarn.
Oh and cuddles...there has been lots of cuddles. I'm stoked to see how sweet and gentle my kiddies are with young Toby. Only 4 weeks until our due day so it's great to see how good they are around a little bundle.

in the swing with starashan
Gee I've been meaning to post pics of this gorgeous little number I got from Sherrin of Starashan for ages but the camera and weather have not been cooperative the last month. Every time I would pop this on her the battery would be flat or it would be raining. Today we got lucky and here it is. So super sweet and wonderfully made. I loved it so much when Sherrin popped a similar one up on her blog and was super stoked when she offered to make one for Tully. I love red on Tully and really adore the design Sherrin has used.
Tully adores it as well and Asher commented this morning that she was like a ballerina in it. Er well...... he does like princesses and all the girly stuff Tully loves at the moment, so if he think she looks like a ballerina well that's fine.
I especially love the detail on the back of the pini. It's a really lovely touch.
Amongst getting ready to face the day this morning I also whipped up this little skirt. It has been absolutely ages since I made something for my kids and this was so gratifying. I've had the fabric cut out for about a year waiting for me to pull my finger out and ,voila, after 1/2 hour here it is.
All ready for some booty wiggling fun!

Friday archives
Today's archived sketch is of my little sister, Lana. I think this is from 1994/95 but I'm not really 100%. I made an oil painting from this sketch whih Tikki now owns. For some reason I put a cat in the bottom left hand corner which never really looked right. Whenever I see the painting I wonder what i was thinking! I don't think Lana owned a cat or we even had a cat in the house.
I used to make Lana and Tikki pose for me quite a bit. Lana looks a tad grumpy in this sketch. I think I must have been taking too long.
Tikki posed nude for me in Year 12, which was very brave of her considering the whole school saw her naked, although she had left school by then. I also used to sketch my niece, Brooke, alot when she was a small child and have quite a few drawings and paintings of many of my other nephews and nieces. Sadly, I haven't drawn many pictures of my own children. I think I have only done one of Tully when she was 8 months old. Very remiss of me and I feel a bit guilty about that. Better get the sketch book out!
