turtle rodeo!

My partner, Lachie used to do conservation work on Green Turtles. For fieldwork the capture of the turtles involved something they called turtle rodeo. Basically they'd go out in boats and jump onto the turtles back to capture them. Pretty crazy stuff hey. The turtle weren't hurt at all - they're bloody huge. So when I did the sketch for this little pixie it instantly reminded me of a turtle rodeo, well my vision of one anyway.

I gave this little guy the name Godwin which I really love. It means good friend:) I have him up previewing in the shop at the moment and plan on putting him up for auction over the weekend.

I've also made a couple more softies. :)

Polly and cosmonaut devilis in the works. The devil will be for a little boy who is turning 3. Tully has claimed Polly once again. She was meant to be for someone else *rolls eyes* Oh well I'll just have to make more. damn hey :)

I'm hoping to get a couple more tee's done for the shop before Friday. So check it out. They'll be just poping up live.

ms.chai tea bag

This little softie was such an easy little project and one I had been itching to do since i got the softies book for xmas. Instant gratification :) She was lots of fun to do - i think I might need to do some more. She's actually supposed to be ms.green tea bag but my order of moss green felt arrived looking much more khaki and anyway I enjoy chai tea much more so there she is.

She's modelling one of my very special tea cups and saucers that once belonged to my Gran, Lila. Tully has taken an extra special liking to this cup and suacer, especially as she shares Great Gran's name and there's a princess on it. She has milk from it and feels very special. I get a wee bit nervous:)

More softies to come soon. Tully really wants me to do the poo dollop next *rolls eyes*. I want to do a gorgeous teddy bear but have to enlarge the pattern first.

seeking....

My stock of tees is getting low at the moment so I headed to the shops today to hunt some down. And this is ALL I came home with! Bugger hey! I think I left it a bit late:$ Only one boys one amongst them! Oh well, I do like the new winter colurs Bonds is using though.

Upon returning home i had 2 parcels waiting in my box. The very talented Donna from Bits for Bots had sent me this stunning nappy and some fab wool blend as a part of a trade. The nappy was an absolute surprise! How generous! Now this is why i love cloth nappies so much. How devine is that nappy compared to a piece of plastic? Not even worth comparing hey, especially if you could feel it! It's lush man!

My other parcel contained some much awaited wool felt from Winterwood toys Beautiful stuff. So I'm ready for the softies now :D Those tee's might just have to wait a bit.

And last is a piece of fabric I found in a little shop in Port Fairy. My little man loves fire engines so I couldn't leave it behind. Not sure exactly what it's going to become yet though.

happy accidents

so Lach gave me a pretty decent break yesterday :) and I was able to get 3 tees finished and up into the shop today. I popped the up and then went and did the groceries and upon returning home found they were all sold ( a huge thankyou to a very generous lady). A bit surprised as i thought they would take a while being smaller sizes however tikki has also stocked today and last time i looked she had some fab new stuff still available.

Anyway these are the little numbers i put up. Twit and twoo was the happy accident. After i had appliqued him i discovered he was off centre so twoo was born and i am so pleased with how he turned out. They are such a cute little pair. Tully thought they should be for her of course. :D

And i'm pretty happy with how the cloth bum buba's turned out. I think i'll do more of this little guy. Some girlie version will be sweet too. I have the same leaf fabric in pinks and black and pink. Lach did say that the rednut resembles a flanders kid a bit :O a big raspberry to him

A bit of an influx of tee's hey! Well i'm still waiting on material for softies. :( Bloody postie lost one parcel (grrr) and the other one was only sent on friday. Poor softies having to wait :(

sketches and scribbles

I love this new design of the cloth bum bubba. I've always used cloth on my kids and am pretty proud of that fact. I started using them purely for environmental reasons but budget and appearance have also played a huge part. I'm planning on using this little sketch/ scribble on quite a few tee's. The writing won't be on the tees though. It's a bit naff :$ I already have two leaves and nappies appliqued ready for painting today.

This is another little sketch i did ages ago and have been meaning to pop on a tee. Hopefuly this little fella will make an appearance soon.

And below is a line up of the next lot of tees for the shop. All boyish colours but quite small. Boys larger sizes are always the hardest to find :(

I should be able to get this lot done to go up sometime next week. Lach tells me he's taking the kids over to a mates today so it may just happen.

stocked

These little ladies are my first stocking over at ozebaby for the year. I shouldn't have favourites but little ebony is a bit of a stunner :) Poor little alice has been marked as a second as something strange happened to her arm when i heat set her. She's still gorgeous, just not 100% :(
I'll hopefully have some boys stuff coming up soon but for the moment I have a surplus of girlie tees.

I am absolutley busting to get making a few softies but the gremlins are putting kinks in the system so I may just get a few more tees done before all the fabric for the softie love arrives

Oh and the tees will go live this arvo some time.

Innes National Park

We escaped for a belated long weekend away at Innes National Park on the York Peninsula this weekend. We hadn't seen any of this side of SA so it was an interesting camping experience. The National Park is really lovely with some amazing views of islands off the coast (where are my shots of these???) and awesome waves. The campsites weren't so great though. We bush cmap when we can so have a pretty basic expectation of a campsite. Sadly the site we stayed at was a bit disappointing. Fenced off sites which were completely bare, heaps and heaps of broken glass, no shade and introduced bees everywhere. In hindsight we should have paid the extra $10 a night to stay at pondolowie rather than surfers beach but hey...it's all experience. Anyway, the beaches were awesome, the water refreshing and a good time was had most of the time :)
We did a bit of sight seeing...

paddling

driving :)

and splashing about.

Back at home it was soooo nice to have a good wash and start thinking about the next trip away. I'm thinking the Flinders ranges. awesome :)
